Hello

Hello and welcome, I'm so honoured to have you here.

My name is Kristy and I'm a secondary teacher who is currently on maternity leave. I'm a wife to Samuel- my favourite hangout buddy, and mother to Joshua- a 10 month old crawling little person. I've always had a thing for words and till today, am in awe of how little scratches on white paper could have the power to change the world.

As much as I loved writing, for the longest time I had nothing to write about. I had lost my words. I'd sit and stare at a screen and type but everything felt too forced. I'd try and try again but was never happy with results. Until life happened and it's interesting but through pain and sorrow, the voice and the words I had missed so much came back again.

I think about how just last year, my class and I went through the story of The Lorax by Dr. Seuss. In case you're not familiar, it's about a creature who 'speaks for the trees, for the trees have no tongues'. We learnt about advocating and what it meant to stand up for a cause. This blog is an example of putting what we learnt into action.

In the posts to follow, I hope to speak up on issues such as postpartum health and mental health in general and the great and not so great parts of being a parent. I want to share experiences and insights about relevant issues that I hope will encourage, inspire and perhaps at times, even challenge you.

Feel free to leave a comment. I'd love to hear what you think and believe that there's so much I can learn from you.

Thank you for stopping by.
